FRM Exam structure:
The FRM exam has transitioned to a two level exam starting November 2009. Now the FRM exams are administered twice a year in May and November. Also it will become mandatory for candidates to pass both the levels before being awarded the FRM title.
However it is possible for candidates to appear for both levels in the same exam sitting and thereby complete the exam in one attempt!
This is because Level I exam will be administered in the morning and Level II exam will be administered in the afternoon and GARP is allowing candidates to register and sit for both exams on the same day.
However, the candidate must pass Part I in order for Part II to be graded. If a candidate passes Part I and fails Part II, the candidate will have to take Part I again. (only for those who sit for Part I & II in the same day.) Hence our recommendation is that you sit for each part separately/ sequentially so asto maximize your chance of clearing on first attempt as well as completing both parts quickly.
